Jennifer Timer, PsyD(C), MSN, RTC
Background
Jennifer brings over 25 years of experience in mental and physical health, with a career spanning nursing, counselling, and end-of-life care. She has worked across the lifespan—from newborns to seniors—and helps clients cope, heal, and find steadiness through life’s most complex transitions.
She is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) and a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) candidate (expected 2026). Her dissertation, “The Anorexic Voice in Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Adolescents,” reflects her commitment to inclusive, evidence-based care. Jennifer practices from an intersectional, trauma-informed, and client-centered lens, drawing from evidence-based therapies to create collaborative and individualized treatment plans.
Her background in pediatric and critical care nursing (ER, ICU, NICU), along with her work as an end-of-life doula, gives her particular depth in supporting clients navigating health anxiety, serious illness, grief, trauma, and high-stress professions—including healthcare workers and first responders.
Experience
Jennifer works with children (10+), adolescents, adults, and couples. She supports concerns including anxiety, depression (including bipolar and postpartum), trauma and PTSD, OCD/OCPD, eating disorders, substance use, suicidality, emotional dysregulation, grief and loss (including pet loss), gender dysphoria, neurodiversity (ADHD and autism), and occupational stress.
She also provides advanced mental health assessments and detailed reports to support conversations with family physicians when appropriate. (She does not yet provide formal diagnoses or psychoeducational assessments.)
